Freedom to Believe
POLLY ALICE poet, artist, dreamer says that poetry saved her life. She began writing it after a trip to the Negev with only a book for a pillow. She studied poetry under Julia Kasdorf. Once she had the honor of handing poetess, Marilyn Nelson, a glass of water after a reading and the best-viewed item on her poetry blog is her interview with former Poet Laureate, Juan Felipe Herrera, about keeping your poems warm. She has been published in Naugatuck River Review and arc24. She won the 2014 Ernest Hartmann award from the International Association for the Study of Dreams from Berkley CA for research on the subconscious writing process. She describes her work as soft sculptural oil painting with imperfect stitching to demonstrate the improvisational nature of relationships over time. Her figurative work is based on the #timesup movement illustrating women's voices on human rights.
